Happy and Sad

Had a chat up with the builder today and its mixed news.

Concretors can't get onsite this week as they are doing another pour :(

Looking like our paperworks dramas might be nearly over and we will get another update on that later today :)

Need to lock down a final kitchen layout with proper dimensions so we can confirm the plumbing placement. So we are booking in to the kitchen place to get that organised :)

I am not sure if the kitchen people will be able to handle us. As Andy has been working for shopfitting and interiors companies for all his working life, doing both trade and drafting roles. Not only do I carry my laminex samples with me everywhere we also know the exact hinges and draw runners we want. They might be glad we are decisive but annoyed that we know more than the average bear and they wont be able to trick us.

I love it when people under estimate us :)

Busy street again

I had a few seconds when I though the trucks of earth moving equipment were for us, but no it was not to be. Our neighbour next door was smoothing over his fill that has been sliding on to our side. I wonder if he has been reading this blog. Another neighbour was also getting piers today.
I have been told my scrape should be tommorrow but I have heard that a few times already so I will not hold my breath waiting. Keep everything crossed for me.

4 frames in 1 day

Our street was super busy today with 4 frames all going up at once. Cant wait to see them all finished this afternoon. Still no progress for us so I will just keep grumbling to myself and hope the paperwork issues get resolved soon. Nearly 3 mths since we were approved by council and to say I am very over waiting is an under statement.

Sneaky Oran Park Display Pics

Well I know you are not supposed to but I took a few sneaky pics of things at Oran Park Display houses last week. Some of the houses were too busy to get pics and I was focussed on getting pics of things that would suit my house, so sorry they all follow a similar design theme.

This kitchen had blue LED strip lighting concealed under the upper cabinets.

It was done by adding a false panel onto the bottom of the cabinet of course the cabinet would have been made that extra bit smaller to accomodate the false panel. You can get LED strip lighting pretty cheap from Ikea.

Must remember to get the carpet ramped onto tiled areas. This builder did it really well.

A nice deck and feature wall we spotted out the window.

Nice timber detail to give a shadow line at the top of the stairs.

I want to make a footstool like this for the end of our bed.

I LOOOOOOOOOVE this framed metal thingy. If anyone know where I can get one let me know. I should go back and see what that little sticker says.

This kitchen was the exact same size and layout as our except it was mirrored. Our Island is also not quite as long. This kitchen got me thinking about moving our sink off the island and over the near the window like this one.

Not so sure about the structure but this is exactly what I want in terms of seating &  garden bed out my back door.

This print was printed onto the back of a piece of frameless glass. Got me thinking about how you would be able the DIY for this one.

Lounge Shopping

While we are waiting to get started we decided to buy a new lounge.... as you do.
At the moment 95% of our household contents are in storage and one of the first things to go in was the lounge.
We are living with relatives in a 3br unit at the moment but in a few weeks they are moving to a new home and we are moving with them. So now we need a lounge for our own lounge room in their new house.

Well, we were going to need 2 more lounges for the new house anyway. (This is my justification and I am sticking to it).


The criteria was:

• Material- Leather, as it will be just inside the back door near the pool. Leather is easier to wipe down if wet bums sit on it. (In our journeys we found cow, buffalo and deer leather)
• Colour- Dark brown or black
• Size- a 3 seater and 2 seater or similar with chaise or similar in modular
• Bonus- some form of ottoman that could be used as foot rest or moved out of the way and used as extra seating during the marathon Wii comps.

So we were lucky enough to find a great priced leather lounge that will fit perfectly in both colour and size with the family room in the new house. We got a 3 seater and 2 seater plus a gigantic 1.5m square leather ottoman. The retailer is holding it for 2 months till we move in, price was pretty reasonable at under $2.5K for the lot.

Also found but didnt buy a fabric lounge for upstairs. Though our old tatty one will do for a while.

Also found the most amazing chair ever at Plush Furniture. It was a leather rocking chair and recliner and was easily the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. No pic of that one so I might have to sneak back and get one.

If you hadn't guess shopping is my special talent and favourite hobby :)

Here are some of our lighting purchases this week. We went to the Beacon sale which was 50% off the second item on all pedants, lamps and outdoor lights.

We managed to get purchases from all of these categories.

Oooohhhh a water meter

I know very boring but not much else to report about the dirt this week. Ho hum, maybe something exciting will happen soon. Next exciting update could include a site fence ( I know nearly as boring as the water meter ).
