I few advancements for today we recieved the approved council plans in the mail.
I bought the feature tiles in silver, with enough for the ensuite and main bathroom. The ensuite will have one strip of tiles run down the wall with the tiles horizontal. So it will be a 600mm wide by 1800mm high chunk of texture. It will be on the wall in the double shower which is straight ahead as you come in the door. The strip will be about 1/3 way across the wall. Floor tiles will be dark charcoal either 300X 600 or 600 X 600. Walls will be plain white in a size to match the floors.
In the bathroom we will run the same feature strip in the shower and also have enough tiles left over for a feature on the bath which is straight ahead inside the door. We will either feature the whole side wall of the bath or run a strip up the side of the bath, across the top and up the wall in one line. Best thing is that the colours will go well with any tiles or accessories, so over the years I can just change it with the colour trends.
Also today spoke with the builder to check on progress and he confirmed that all insurances have been confirmed and ready to go. He will take the approved plans to our private certifier on Mon and we should have everything on the approvals side done by next Friday. The excavating team are ready to get started as soon as they have the go ahead. So hopefully my land should be cleared within the next 2 weeks and preparation will be done for my slab shortly after.
I have a feeling that once we get started this will fly through. Which reminds me I better contact Integral Energy to arrange connect and check that Water is sorted.
Expect daily updates from me because I will be dropping in every day when I do the school run and posting from the phone. I will get some more progress pics of the whole street when I am there over the weekend.

Officially Approved
The council website updated this morning to APPROVED. I should have the stamped plans in the mail when I get home.
The builder has advised that all of his final insurance approvals should be in, in the next few days as well. So countdown is on.

Feature Tiles- I'm in Love
I have been looking at these tiles for months and months now and I can;t find anything I love more.
Think I will just have to get them :) They are 150mm X 600 and they are prcelain metallic in either gold or silver.

Front Door Options- Corinthian Sunburst
Thinking about this for the front door. We were going to have horizontal glass panel timber door but everyone seems to have the same one.
Definitely having translucent glass though. Which is like the milky finish you cant see through it at all. Not sure if its too angled when all the other lines are either horizontal or vertical.
It will be set pack 2 metres under the portico and it will be a 1200 pivot door. No flyscreens and no locks just a handle. We are having a keyless entry system with either fob or fingerprint.

Went to visit the land on Saturday, as we do pretty much every weekend (I know we are wierdos). Anyway when I arrived I found a bunch of people and cars on my land and my neighbour attempting to cut down some of the trees on our common boundary.
So once I went to check what was going on found out it was my new neghbour R. We met R when we camped out for the land. He and a whole bunch of his family members were trying to remove the smallest gum trees which are just slightly inside his boundary.
He was very relieved when I told him I had already asked my builder to remove that whole bunch of trees as they were too close to my neighbours house (not yet started) and they would also be right in my swimming pool. R told me his builder wanted to charge him $1000 per tree and he has 5 trees, so he was attempting DIY instead. The 3 he managed to pull down were so small they hardly even qualified as trees actually. So I told him his last big one just on his side, I would get my builder to remove and hopefully my block get cleared before his frame goes up.
They told us the 3 trees they took down appeared to have termites or borers so they were too unhealthy to stay anyway. Might have to see if we need to do anything extra once we remove them.

Council Approval Thur 21/1/10
Status changed on the council website to "Approved not Released", we are not 100% sure what this means but most of the other DA have switched to this status for a few days the they move to the normal approved status.
Very excited that we can start in a few weeks.
The builder is waiting on his Builders insurance to come through. That should be in another 7- 10 days. After they have that we can get final approval from the bank and they can start clearing the and levelling the land. As we will need to make the first payment to the builder this will be done ASAP to get things started.
